Football Stag Do Stuff - Part 1
Being the best supported sport in the world, there’s a good chance that most people on a stag weekend will enjoy football in one way or another, whether they’re a hardened ‘ultra’, travelling the UK’s motorways following their team or someone who likes football with a few beers on the sofa, few will argue that it’s a sport that’s rooted deep in world culture. A weekend away with the lads is the perfect opportunity to experience football from a different perspective. In this 2 part blog, we’ll be looking at the best stag do activities for football fans, this one will focus more on Stadium and Match experiences offered by some of the worlds most famous teams. Part 2 will be more activity based, where your football skills will be challenged to the limit in hilarious ways!
Anfield is a sacred place for all Liverpool fans, famous around the world for being the home of Liverpool FC. With fans dotted around the world, Liverpool are one of the most successful football clubs in the world and it’s no surprise that it sits comfortably in the top 10 of the best supported football clubs. Even putting aside rivalries, football fans up and down the country should come and experience the Anfield Tour. Opened when the football club was founded in 1892, this is a stadium that has both a rich history and bags of character. Catering very well for Stag dos (and hen dos) the stadium tour gives a unique insight to what goes on behind the scenes. There are two tours you can choose from, The Origin Story, which shows the history of the club and stadium through the ages and the Stadium tour itself which allows you to see the trophy room and dressing rooms, Both tours finish up in the museum. Ajax Tour & match
AFC Ajax, the Dutch Giants have opened their doors for anyone to visit and check out what goes on behind the scenes of this historic football club. The stadium is named in honour of one of it’s most famous and successful players, Johan Cruyff, so admired by the football world the man even has a skill named after him. The Johan Cruyff Stadium is arguably the spiritual home of ‘Total Football’, a revolutionary tactic that brought great success to both the club and the Dutch national football team in the 70’s, although it was a philosophy used much earlier stretching back to the 1930’s. The nations top flight, the Eredivisie, is known for being a goal fest and the games offer great entertainment, so why not take in an Ajax match whilst you’re on your stag do in Amsterdam.
Barcelona Match & Tour
One of the top two most supported teams in the world, Barcelona and it’s home, Camp Nou, need no introduction. One of the most successful teams in the world, alongside others in this stag do football list, Barcelona have won pretty much everything that they can win, they remain to this day, the only team to win all six competitions in a single year. They are also the highest paid sports team in the whole world, eclipsing even American sports like Basketball and Baseball. They have so many titles and trophies It’s no wonder they want to show off all their silverware! The Camp Nou tour is highly recommended for any football fan on a stag do in Barcelona. Real Madrid Match and Tour
The other half of the worlds most famous rivalry, the El Clasico, Real Madrid are famous the world over, supported by the King of Spain they are the richest club in the world, even in name, word ‘Real’ means Royal so there’s no wonder they have a recruitment policy dubbed ‘Glacticos’ where they sign the biggest stars in the game. A tour of the stadium offers a fantastic opportunity to see where the worlds best change and relax before taking to the pitch. It’s vast trophy cabinet and museum tells the story of a club born into greatness and has never looked back. Truly a fantastic experience for any stag weekend.
