10 Essential Birmingham Hen Do Ideas & Activities
A Quick Read
Updated December 2025
Often referred to as the UK’s second city, Birmingham has everything you will need for a wild hen weekend. While it is replete with bars and restaurants to suit all tastes, there is also plenty to see and do without breaking the bank.
From hipster hangouts in Digbeth to panoramic views from the library, here are our 10 essential ideas for a legendary Birmingham hen do.
1. The Jewellery Quarter
The Vibe: Sparkles & Sophistication.
Free Activity: A hen weekend isn't complete without something shiny! The Jewellery Quarter has the highest concentration of jewellery businesses in Europe (producing 40% of the UK's jewellery). It’s a fantastic place for window shopping. The area is also home to a thriving food and drink scene, perfect for a pit stop after browsing the diamonds.
2. The Custard Factory & Digbeth
The Vibe: Hipster Cool.
For something a bit edgier, head to The Custard Factory in Digbeth. This is the heart of Birmingham’s creative quarter. It’s a hub of independent shops, cafes, and bars set in a restored Victorian factory. It’s famous for its incredible street art (perfect for Instagram) and features everything from vintage clothing stores to ghetto golf.
3. Cocktail Making Masterclass
The Vibe: Shaking & Sipping.
Mixing up a storm in a cocktail making class is one of our most popular activities. You’ll be shown how to create some absolutely amazing drinks by a trained mixologist, and you’ll get to taste them all as well! It’s the perfect way to relax while learning something new.
4. Visit the Library of Birmingham
The Vibe: Views for Days.
Free Activity: A library wouldn't normally be high on a hen do list, but trust us. The Library of Birmingham is well worth a visit for its two outdoor garden terraces. The Secret Garden on the 7th floor offers one of the best panoramic views of the city—and it’s completely free. It’s a stunning spot for a group photo.
5. Explore the Canals
The Vibe: Scenic Stroll.
Free Activity: It is a well-known fact that Birmingham has more miles of canals than Venice! A walk along the canal towpaths near Brindleyplace is a great way to see the city. You might even want to visit the famous Canal House, which boasts the largest beer garden in Birmingham for those beautiful summer evenings.
6. Old School Sports Day
The Vibe: Nostalgic Fun.
If your group likes a giggle, why not try an Old School Sports Day? You’ll compete in sack races, egg and spoon races, and throwing the bean bag. It’s the sort of nostalgia that gets everyone laughing and breaks the ice perfectly.
7. Become a TV Star at the BBC
The Vibe: Lights, Camera, Action.
Free Activity: Visit the Public Space at BBC Birmingham. You can pose for selfies with Dr Who’s TARDIS or a Dalek, and even try out as a newsreader or weather presenter in front of a green screen! Who knows, it could open up a whole new career for you?
8. Bottomless Brunch
The Vibe: Day Drinking.
Start your Saturday right with a Bottomless Brunch. We can book you into a top venue for 90 minutes of free-flowing Prosecco and delicious food. It’s the best way to fuel up for the day ahead and get everyone in the party spirit.
9. Cannon Hill Park
The Vibe: Picnic & Chill.
Free Activity: If you need to clear the cobwebs from the night before, head to Cannon Hill Park. Covering some 250 acres, it’s an ideal location for a picnic or a stroll. There is even a lake for boating in the summer!
10. Stay in a City Centre Apartment
The Vibe: Private HQ.
Instead of splitting up into hotel rooms, we recommend booking Party Apartments. Staying together means you can have pre-drinks in your own lounge and get ready together. We have excellent options right in the city centre.
