10 Essential Cambridge Hen Do Ideas & Activities
Best of the Best
Updated December 2025
For some hen dos, the aim is to head somewhere loud and trashy. For others, it’s all about class and sophistication. If you fall into the second category, Cambridge is your perfect match.
Known for its stunning architecture, clever history, and riverside charm, Cambridge offers a hen weekend that feels a little more exclusive than the typical city break. But don't let the scholarly reputation fool you—with a huge student population, the nightlife is legendary.
We’ve helped thousands of hens plan their weekends here. Based on real stories from our past groups (like Katie's legendary weekend!), here are the 10 essential ideas for a Cambridge hen do.
1. Punting on the River Cam
The Vibe: Relaxed, Scenic & Quintessential.
You simply cannot come to Cambridge without going Punting. It is the absolute number one activity for a reason. You’ll float down the River Cam, passing the famous "Backs" of the colleges, giving you the best views of King's College Chapel and the Bridge of Sighs without having to walk.
Pro Tip: Do not try to punt yourself unless you want to fall in! We recommend a Chauffeured Punt. This lets you relax on cushions and blankets with a glass of prosecco while a guide does the hard work and tells you the history.
2. Cocktail Making at Las Iguanas
The Vibe: Shaking, Stirring & Sipping.
A classic for a reason. Start your Saturday night with a masterclass where you get to shake (and drink) your own creations. Las Iguanas is a top choice here, located right by the river. You’ll typically start with a welcome drink (like a Caipirinha), make two cocktails yourself under expert supervision, and play games to keep the giggles going.
Real Hen Verdict: "Our host Alan really knew his stuff! We played games to keep the giggles going, and the two-course meal included soaked up the alcohol perfectly."
3. Afternoon Tea with Unlimited Prosecco
The Vibe: Sophisticated Day Drinking.
Nothing says "classy hen do" like finger sandwiches and warm scones. But to really get the party started, upgrade to the Unlimited Prosecco option. Venues like the Graduate Hotel offer stunning views over the river, making it the perfect way to spend a sophisticated afternoon catching up before the night out begins.
4. Flamenco Dance Class
The Vibe: High Energy Icebreaker.
Want to learn a new skill? A dance class is a fantastic icebreaker, especially if your group consists of school friends, work friends, and aunties who don't know each other yet.
One of our recent groups chose Flamenco and loved it. The instructor gets everyone moving—even those with two left feet! It’s high energy, hilarious, and gets you ready for the dancefloor later. Plus, you can request the bride wears a traditional Spanish fan and flower for the photos.
5. A Day at the Races (Newmarket)
The Vibe: Glitz, Glamour & Fluttering.
Cambridge is just a stone's throw from Newmarket, the historic home of horse racing. For a glam day out, get dressed up in your finest frocks and fascinators and head to the track.
We offer a specific Day at the Races Package that includes entry, a meal, and nightlife. It’s a hassle-free day of wine and winning (hopefully!).
6. The "Pamper Day" Recovery
The Vibe: Recharge & Reset.
After a heavy Friday night, a Saturday morning Pamper Day is essential. We can book you into high-quality local spas with pools and saunas. Whether it’s a full massage for the bride or just chilling by the pool with a mani-pedi, it’s the recharge you’ll need before round two. It turns a chaotic weekend into a relaxing holiday.
7. Vinyl Nightclub
The Vibe: Cheesy Pop & Light-Up Floors.
When you want to dance to the cheesiest music known to man, Vinyl is the place to be. With an LED dancefloor and a playlist of 80s, 90s, and 00s bangers, it is unpretentious fun.
One of our groups spent hours here "tearing up the dancefloor and chugging questionable drinks"—exactly what a hen night should be! We can arrange guest list entry so you skip the queue and walk straight in like VIPs.
8. The Tiki Bar Experience
The Vibe: Fire, Rum & Hula Leis.
If you want something a bit cooler than a standard club, hunt down a Tiki Bar. These venues are perfect for transitioning from "dinner drinks" to "dancing on tables." Expect strong rum cocktails served in coconuts or volcano bowls, fire flair bartending, and a packed dancefloor. It’s a tropical escape in the middle of East Anglia.
9. Surprise the Bride with a Stripper
The Vibe: Cheeky Tradition.
No matter how classy the weekend is, sometimes you just need a bit of tradition! We can arrange a private room in a bar where a "surprise guest" will perform a routine for the bride. It’s cheeky, fun, and always memorable. It works best as a post-dinner surprise to wake everyone up before the club.
10. Stay in a Luxury Party House
The Vibe: Private Countryside Living.
While Cambridge has plenty of central hotels (like the solid Travelodge options), for a truly special weekend, we recommend booking a private property nearby. This gives you a communal space for games, breakfast, and pre-drinks.
Check out the stunning Country Haven which features a private pool and hot tub, or the unique The Barn for a rustic rural escape.
