INTRO
A hen do to Edinburgh is one of the simplest pleasures in the world. After all, it’s a city that is famed for culture, for entertainment, for nightlife and for gorgeous views. But if you want to head to Edinburgh as a group and stay somewhere that feels a bit more luxurious than a regular hotel, have you considered an Edinburgh Hen House like Foxglove? KITCHEN AND DINING
A good hen party is powered by food and drink, so when you are choosing your ideal Edinburgh hen house, the kitchen and dining facilities obviously have to be great to ensure a good time. Well don’t you worry about that, Foxglove has you covered on that front. Let’s start with the kitchen – this is a fully fitted modern farmhouse kitchen, with a range cooker, microwave, kettle and everything else you’d need – including a dishwasher. After all, who wants to do the washing up when you’ve had a few glasses of prosecco? And speaking of prosecco, the spacious fridge will ensure you have plenty of bottles chilling at any given time.
The Dining room also has plenty of space for you and the girls to spend some time together. Whether you are all planning on sitting down for a sit-down meal, or whether you just want somewhere to chill out while you enjoy a takeaway and cocktails, the dining room is perfect for that purpose. Plenty of seating so that you can all sit down together, and large windows facing out onto the beautiful gardens, so that you’ve got a lovely view while you eat.
BEDROOMS
This is all very lovely, and makes the Foxglove sound like the perfect Edinburgh Hen House, but what about the bedrooms? After all, everyone needs sleep (some of us more than others), so there needs to be comfortable, relaxing bedrooms for everyone. No problem – here’s the breakdown of rooms available at Foxglove.
BEDROOM 1 – located downstairs, this room can either have a super king sized bed or a pair of twin beds (sleeps two).
BEDROOM 2 – located on the first floor, this room contains either a super king sized bed or a pair of twin beds (sleeps two)
BEDROOM 3 – located on the first floor, this room has a king sized bed and a single bed (sleeps three)
BEDROOM 4 – located on the first floor, this room has a pair of twin beds (sleeps two)
BEDROOM 5 – located on the first floor, this room has a king sized bed and a single bed (sleeps three)
The savvy among you will realise that this adds up to twelve bed spaces, and we had previously mentioned that Foxglove has a maximum capacity of fourteen people – that’s because there are also two additional fold up beds that can be requested (and slotted into just about any room you fancy), which would bring it up to fourteen bed spaces.
BATHROOMS
Obviously another essential part of any Edinburgh Hen House is the bathrooms – because if you’re sharing a house with ten or more ladies, you need to ensure that you’ll have space to get ready for your night out without tripping over each other. Foxglove has five bathrooms, all with showers and two with baths, so you won’t have to wait for a mirror, a sink or a shower – there are always plenty of options to choose from.
ADDITIONAL ROOMS
But what about communal areas (that aren’t the kitchen or dining room)? Don’t worry, Foxglove is not short of those. Let’s start with the living room – a classic space for relaxing in with comfortable sofas and chairs as well as a log burning fireplace. Perfect for those evenings where you want to sit around and chat for hours. If you are feeling a little more competitive, why not head over to the games room? Consisting of a pool table, a table football table, a TV and plenty of comfy seating, it’s a perfect place to spend some time, especially if you want to see which of you is the best at a certain game – oh, and did I mention there’s a mini bar in the games room as well?
OUTSIDE
And then there’s outside. Way back at the start of this article I spoke about the absolutely stunning views that Foxglove has – it’s on an estate, so it’s just green fields, stone walls and trees as far as the eye can see, which makes it absolutely essential. But that’s not all the exterior has to offer. There’s also plenty of space for entertaining – with a bbq area, a sand pit and a summer house as well as plenty of seats and table space to ensure that if you are spending an afternoon outside, everyone’s got somewhere to sit and put their drink down.
