INTRO
A luxurious hen do is something that almost every girl considers. After all, you spend the rest of your life living in normality, anything you can do that really embraces luxury is something that you should really take advantage of for such a special occasion. Ross Lodge is one of our most luxurious hen do houses, and as such is somewhere that deserves consideration whatever type of hen do you are planning. Able to sleep up to twenty six people and surrounded by stunning scenery, this is the sort of luxurious hen do location that really needs to be embraced.
LOCATION
Ross Lodge is located in the stunning Wye valley area, with the River Wye on one side and the Forest of Dean on the other. It is an exceptionally serene and secluded location, but does have the advantage of local villages being nearby, so you won’t be stuck if you run out of essentials! It is, in many ways, a quintessential location for a luxurious hen do, and when you get there we promise your breath will be taken away by the sheer beauty of the area.
INSIDE
On entry, you’ll find yourselves welcomed into the warm vibes of the main hall, before turning right and finding yourself in the huge atmospheric lounge and bar area. Yes, that’s right – there is a bar in the lounge (a remnant of when this was a pub many years ago). There’s also a TV with Sky, a woodburner and enough seating for twenty eight people, so if you are all spending some time here, no-one will be fighting for somewhere comfy to sit! If a small subset of the group want to watch something different, or have a smaller, more private discussion, then the snug (which leads off the lounge) is a perfect location for this, as it has seats for five people and has its own TV with Sky.
KITCHEN AND DINING
The Kitchen at Ross Lodge is massive and split into two areas, with the main kitchen having an adjoining servery behind the bar. This means that if you are going the whole hog for a luxurious hen do and have brought in a private chef to lay on an incredible meal, they will have plenty of space to work and serve you all. Alternatively, even if you are just making bacon sandwiches and cooking pizza, the kitchen is more than adequate – with three ovens, three sinks, four fridge/freezers, dishwashers, and a massive twelve hob rings – even if almost everyone wants to cook something different at the same time, you won’t run out of space!
The servery leads to the dining room, a large, stunning room with a long table that can seat all twenty-six of you in one sitting. This means that you can all eat, drink, chat and laugh together without feeling like you are all dotted around in different places – perfect for the unity a hen do can provoke.
BEDROOMS
Sleeping twenty six people is no easy task, but Ross Lodge has come up trumps in this department. You’ll be split across twelve bedrooms, with varying numbers of people per room. I know this information is always important when planning, so here’s the breakdown for you:
Bedroom 1 – Double bed with en-suite shower room
Bedroom 2 – Two single beds with en-suite shower room
Bedroom 3 – Two single beds with en-suite shower room
Bedroom 4 – Double bed and one single bed, with en-suite shower room
Bedroom 5 – Double bed and one single bed, with en-suite shower room
Bedroom 6 – Double bed with en-suite shower room
Bedroom 7 – Two single beds with en-suite
Bedroom 8 – Double bed
Bedroom 9 – Two single beds
Bedroom 10 – Two single beds with en-suite
Bedroom 11 – Double bed with en-suite shower room
Bedroom 12 – Double bed with en-suite shower room
The majority of the bedrooms are on the first and second floors, but Bedroom 10 is on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible if that facility is needed.
BATHROOMS
As you can see from above, ten out of the twelve bedrooms have en-suites, which is great. There is also a bathroom on the second floor which is designed to be shared by Bedroom 8 and Bedroom 9, and there are, of course, a couple of cloakrooms on the ground floor as well – so no matter what time you are all trying to get ready, you won’t have any issues finding space to do so.
GAMES ROOM
As well as all of these facilities that are essential for a luxurious hen do, there is also a games room at the property, with a variety of activities included. There is a pool table for those of you who think you can pot the balls, there’s a table tennis table and table football as well, so no matter what kind of competitive activity you’d like to get involved in, you’ll find yourselves able to do so here. Oh, there’s also a cross trainer as well, just as a nice extra bonus!
OUTSIDE
As already mentioned, the views from Ross Lodge are absolutely gorgeous, and as is always important on a luxurious hen do, the property has a terrace that you can all sit on and enjoy the sights – after all, nothing is more relaxing than watching the sun set, glass of prosecco in hand, surrounded by some of your best friends in the entire world. There’s also a barbecue out on the terrace, so if you fancy making an afternoon of it with plenty of drinks and sausages sizzling away, then you can always do that. And, of course, Ross Lodge has the one ingredient no luxurious hen do should be without – a hot tub.
