The Stables York Party House

INTRO

Just outside the culturally rich and historic city of York lies this superb charismatic party house, perfect for any stag or hen dos who want a fantastic escape to the country, whilst still being within reasonable distance to the bright lights of a city. The Stables York Party House gives you exactly that. Sleeping up to 24 guests this rustic converted carriage house lays a mere 9 miles to the centre of York, which would be perfect of some of your hen do want to enjoy it’s vibrant nightlife or simple explore the Cities history or enjoy a little bit of retail therapy! The Stables York Party House is converted from what was originally a Carriage House and retains much of the character and features. It is a two-hundred-year-old building with authentic brick walls and décor reflective of its age due to so many of the original features being retained. The building itself is distinguished and beautiful, with wrought iron gates erected at the entrance to the property. There is ample parking for three or four cars on a very quiet village lane.

LOCATION

The North Yorkshire Village of Bilbrough is less than twenty minutes by car to the city of York. There is one village bus (Bus route 37) into York or there is the ‘Coastliner’ (a ‘scenic bus route’) which operates every half hour to either Leeds or York. The bus stop for this service is a ten-minute walk from your accommodation. Another option is to use the Park & Ride service at Askham Bar (six mins drive away). The city has many historic buildings and other structures to interest historians, such as a minster, castle and city walls. The city’s medieval walls are a popular walk for many tourists and are the most complete defences in England. They were first raised by the Romans 2,000 years ago and incorporate part of the walls of the Roman fortress and some Norman and medieval work, as well as 19th and 20 ^th century renovations. You can do a full 2.5 miles circuit along the battlements.

In York there is also the National Railway Museum and the Jorvik Viking Centre for visiting for those who really want to surround themselves in York history. Kilburn White Horse is one of the most famous landmarks and a fun day trip from York. It is located in the hills of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Bilbrough itself is a charming little village with its own pub the Three Hares Inn where you can visit for local ales and traditional British dishes on offer. There is also the Sun Inn at Colton (ten mins drive away) and The Nag’s Head in Asham Bryan (six mins drive away) There are plenty of lovely walks straight out the front door from your accommodation and a public bridle path too. Secure bike storage is available is cycling is your plan. Just a short drive out from Bilbrough is Askham Bryan Wildlife & Conservation Park for a charming day out, or a visit for beautiful walks and stunning wildlife at the Askham Bog Nature Reserve.

INSIDE

The Stables is made up of four separate lodging. There are two apartments, and two self-contained studios. One main door leads from the exterior into the old building, and then each dwelling has its own entrance door. All the apartments and the studios have been recently renovated and boast authentic décor paired with comfort and versatility. Apartment One is on the ground floor, Apartment Two is on the first floor and Studios 3A and 3B are on the second floor.

The studios are quant and rustic self-contained spaces with beautiful original features in the décor such as low beams and original brick walls.

There is also The Hygge Room, which is the perfect social area for everyone to gather for pre drink nibbles, hen and stag do games and general social mixing. There are bar stools, TV screens, attractive lighting and unique wall art in this space. It can seat 14/18 people and is just a short distance from the main house.

The apartments also have lounge areas with lots of seating in warm and beige colours.

KITCHEN

The kitchens are fully equipped with everything you will need for your weekend. It will be easily enough to stock up on supplies as the petrol station is only a short walk away. You will have plenty of access to fridges and freezers in each kitchen and all the crockery, plates, pans and glassware you will need for your stay. There is also kettles, ovens, hobs and microwaves all for your use in each space. For any coffee snobs there is a Starbucks just down the road for your morning caffeine hit.

OUTSIDE

The outside area is an absolute delight with a building labelled as a Relaxation and Wellness Space. In this area you will find a six-seater hot tub under cover along with seating areas, a lawned area for games and relaxing, a decking area with BBQ use, another fully fitted kitchen area and separate bathroom for use when using the outside area and even a yoga studio / dance space. This is truly a calm and peaceful heaven where you can imagine fully relaxing and enjoying every minute you spend here with your hens or stags.
